MAPLE GROVE, ( MINNESOTA — For the second year in a row, TopLine Federal Credit Union has received first place in the statewide Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility. This year’s award recognizes the efforts of TopLine employees in helping the Community Emergency Assistance Program (CEAP), a multi-service, nonprofit agency that serves Twin Cities residents in Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, part of Champlin, and all of Anoka County. CEAP offers a variety of programs to its clients, including two food shelves, a free clothing closet, family loan and transportation programs, Meals on Wheels, a senior chore service program, two back-to-school programs, and holiday toy drive.

TopLine employees were recognized for donating their time, talent, and treasure to CEAP in many ways:

• 150 new backpacks filled with school supplies
• 300 additional school supply items, including paper, crayons, pens, folders, pencils and markers
• 26 hours of volunteer time for Senior Yard Works chores
• 250 unwrapped toys for the holiday toy distribution
• 20 volunteer hours for the holiday toy distribution
• 30 volunteer driver hours for Meals on Wheels, covering five routes
• 120 pounds of food donated to Minnesota Food Share
• $130 raised for Minnesota Food Share through a lunch fundraiser
• 1, 141 personal care items, including diapers, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant and wipes.

In addition three credit seminars were offered to CEAP’s Ways-to-Work clients to introduce the basics of credit, define what credit is, and the highlight importance of establishing and maintaining a good credit history.

TopLine will now be considered for the national Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility in November.

The award is named after Dora Maxwell, a credit union pioneer who worked with several organizations to improve the living standards of the poor and needy. It was established in 1987 to promote social responsibility among credit unions by formally recognizing their social achievements. The award program is sponsored by the Minnesota Credit Union Network and the Credit Union National Association (CUNA).
